Market update No. 50-2018 – Chinese pumpkin seed kernels 2018

2018-09-03 | A few days ago new crop pumpkin seed harvest started in North West of China. Second in row this crop will be smaller again. We are hearing that farmers planted 70% less GWS, 50% less Snow White and 30% less Shine Skin. At the same time prices are still very weak on our end. It is remarkable that we see today a wide spread in prices. It seems that high quality shippers with minimum BRC-Grade A standard offering much higher than small shippers with no third party on-site audit standard. We understood that this small exporters mixing cheap 2016 crop and even 2015 material with today's current crop in order to generate a price advantage. This mix is poor in quality because of high content of generated over stored raw material.
