market update No. 26-2023 Ukraine / Safeguard Measures for sunflower seeds have been extended for five frontline Member States: Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia

You may recall ongoing discussions between Member States on Safeguard measures under the ATM (1-year autonomous trade measure) for Ukraine following several neighboring member states unilaterally banning imports from Ukraine of certain agricultural products. This "exceptional and temporary preventive measure" has been extended until the 15^th of September, 2023, and will apply to wheat, maize, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds originating in Ukraine. We expect the extension of the import ban until the end of 2023 very soon!
