1) Özgür Tarim: I travelled to the Izmir-Manisa region from 27–29 June 2022 and visited the new Özgür Tarim factory. Our shipper has invested about USD 15 million in the new sultana factory. It is one of the most modern production facilities in Turkey, or better, in the world. Currently, Özgür Tarim can produce about 50,000 MT per year and has the option to set up 2.5 more production lines and expand its capacity to 80,000 MT.

The Ukrainian war influenced the new crop quotes in Bulgaria. The Ukrainian farmers are selling their old crop 2021 sunflower seeds in the neighboring countries Romania + Bulgaria at dumping prices contrary to any economic rationality. They fear that the Russians will destroy or occupy their crop. We saw the traffic jam of Ukrainian trucks at the Romanian / Bulgarian frontier during our last trip two weeks ago!

1) Vegetation process of new harvest sunflowers: I traveled about 1,100 km through the sunflower growing areas in the south and north-east of Bulgaria and along the south-eastern Romanian coast at the Black Sea in the period from 7 June - 11 June 2022. The weather was very changeable. Temperatures varied greatly between 20°–30° Celsius. Precipitation alternated with sunshine. One can speak of ideal weather conditions for the sunflowers.
