market-update No. 58-2021 new crop Bulgarian sunflower kernels

2021-08-24 | Sunflower prices continue the price Rally
The Bulgarian farmers are practically out of the market and offering no raw material. Prices are going firmer every day, and no shipper wants to sell the new crop. We are facing a tough transition period from the old to the new crop and expecting further increases until the end of the year. Our shipper Sadina is out of the market, and we do not know when he will come back.

market-update No. 57-2021 Bulgarian sunflower kernels new crop

2021-08-20 | Our Shipper Sadina refused all outstanding offers with immediate effect!
The farmers in South Bulgaria stopped the harvest. The Sunflower seed is still green and not dried. Farmers are holding back their product and offering only small portions like 20 mt here and there. How can you book enough material from farmers in such small amounts? The sunflower oil market is firm, and the oil crushers are gaining USD 100,00 p.mt higher profits versus dehullers based on today`s quotes. Sadina decided to focus on the performance against all agreed contracts and does not want to enlarge his risks which is the case with any other bookings.

market-update No. 56-2021 Bulgarian sunflower kernels new crop

2021-08-19 | Prices for sunflower seeds continue to go firmer
In the south of Bulgaria, the new harvest has started very slowly, and the farmers have partly stopped the harvest again because of high temperatures. In spring we had very heavy rains. Sowing was very late, and the seeds came up quickly, and the plants grew fast. Later it became extremely hot and dry, and we did not see any rainfall in Bulgaria. As a result, the harvest is very late. The sunflowers are full of seeds, but they have formed many shells and small meat. The farmers' yields per hectare are good, but the oil content and test weights are extremely low. As a result, they have to shell and crush much more raw material to produce kernels or oil.

market-update No. 55-2021 Turkish sultanas

2021-08-13 | Turkish sultanas prices continue to go firmer
The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture's team of experts is currently inspecting the vines to determine their crop estimate. The first figures are leaking out, according to which the harvest is expected to be only about 230,000 mt. That would be extremely low and well below last year's 300,000 mt. Our shipper estimates about 250,000 mt. Prices continue to rise in Turkey, and we see growing uncertainty. What will the TMO do next?

market-update No. 54-2021 pumpkin seed kernels

2021-08-13 | Prices for pumpkin seeds new crop will continue to go firmer
We have known for some weeks that the crop outlook for pumpkin seeds is not favorable. In Europe, the weather has been very hard on pumpkins. Especially in Austria, it was far too wet. The Austrian oil crushers are forecasting a minimal harvest. In the coming season, it could be that for the first time in years, they will import GWS from China and crush it for oil to meet the demand. Furthermore, we see a very tight freight market, and nobody knows what the truck freight from Graz to Hamburg will cost next year. Long-term deals are therefore hardly possible.
