market update No. 51-2023 On-site harvest report for new crop Turkish sultanas
2023-08-31 | On-site harvest report for new crop Turkish sultanas
This afternoon, we returned from a 4 days trip. We visited plenty of vineyards and drying beds. All over the place, we have seen the negative impact of mildew. The factories are ready to process but receive only a few new crop raw materials deliveries. When the farmer drives his tractor on the weighing bridge, he recognizes the light product and claims 50 % less yields. We can confirm it. The raw material price went up from TRY 27,00 up to TRY 43,00 p.kg for Type 9 during the last 10 days, and we expect TRY 50,00 p.kg very soon. Consequently, the farmers sell what they need daily and keep the rest for later.

2023-08-26 | State of play for the ongoing development of the new crop in Bulgaria
The harvest of Bulgarian sunflower seeds started two weeks ago and shows a 7 % decrease in acres to date, and the yields are significantly lower than in previous years. The hot summer in July and August stopped the pollination. The sunflowers were not able to develop a head full of seeds. The seeds are very small and not satisfying. In the North, the harvest starts later as usual because of the wet spring.

The disease kills the grapevine, and the vines do not produce fruit for the next 3 years.
