Market update No. 69 Türkische Sultanas neue Ernte

Marktbericht Bilder Vorlage2018-11-20 | Please find enclosed our price graph for Turkish sultanas. In 2018 price went up from TRY 6,00 p.kg to TRY 9,60 today based on Type 9 raw material. This is about 62,5 % increase. In the same period Turkish Lira lost in value against the USD with about 35 %. Turkish sultanas price appreciation in USD is 27,5%. The EURO lost in value with about 3 % during the last 12 months against USD. Price increase for sultanas from Turkey in EURO is + 30 % until today. The raw material price trend is firm. The Turkish Lira quoted within a range of TRY 4,80 – TRY 6,80. Today we are at TRY 5,30 with some phantasy for growth.

Market update No. 68 Turkish sultanas of new harvest

2018-11-16 | Raw material prices for sultanas and raisins are increasing by USD 50,00 p.mt every day. Just after Ramadan on 27 August 2018 we started with an opening price of TRY 7,25 p.kg for Type 9 raw materials. Yesterday raw materials of Type 9 were traded at Izmir Boursa at TRY 9,40 p.kg (see attachment 1). This is the equivalent to an increase of + 30 percent within 3 months.

Market update No. 67 pumpkin seed kernels

2018-11-14 | The trade war between the US and China is leaving its marks in the business for oilseeds and dry fruits. Underpinned by a +25 percent increase in shipments of Californian almonds to China in November 2018. China has imposed duties on some agricultural products from the US and is trying to boost cultivation of this products in their own country by offering subsidies to farmers. This development led to a situation that sees more growing efforts of Chinese farmers in soybeans, sunflowers and cotton wool. This happens at the expense of cultivation areas for pumpkins. During our trip to China 2 weeks ago we were able to assess and validate this scenario. In the northwestern regions we saw a decline of up to 30 percent, the northeast saw a decrease in pumpkin harvest by more than 30 percent.

2018-11-06 | After travelling for 9 days throughout China we arrived back in Hamburg on 2 November. Partially in wintry conditions we met with 3 of our main shippers in the provinces of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang. We have conducted 3 in-depth and comprehensive on-site audits, one of these audits together with 2 external specialists from Scandinavia.
